Khurshid Daryush Phirozmand - Math πrates President

I realized that many students were keen on participating in the Honors Program offered by the Segue Global Prep School (SGPS) but putting off studying for the contests so I started a study group at the school. By talking to the students, I bought their attention to how these contests will help them challenge their intellectual capacity and prepare them to take the ACT or the SAT in the future. I loved to introduce young students to a different dimension of math. I organized booth camps to orient younger students in the art of problem-solving strategies. To help the students prepare better for these contests, I coordinated a team effort to prepare online problem-solving videos.

Why join the Math πrates math club?

Students of today wish to see the 'why' as well as 'how' a particular concept works. The most important fact they realize is that math is not confined to what is given in the textbooks. Math has got a universal presence and they wish to see it in everything that they do in real life. If that sounds like you, and you’re good at math and are curious to learn more, give it a shot.

Meeting new friends
Math πrates is not a bunch of nerds who barely speak to each other, but perfectly normal kids and in fact, most of the kids here are fun, outgoing, communicative children. By joining the club you have a chance to meet new friends

Learning in a fun way
If you’re interested in maths and even want to have a career in it, Math πrates is the perfect place to start. Here you’ll be dealing with unusual, out of the box problems you don’t normally cover in school, which will help you develop and become even better at math. At regular meetings, the program shall consist of a mathematical presentation (e.g., talk, film), mathematical enrichment and recreational topics, as well as conducting any necessary chapter business.

Work on your confidence
The team environment is a perfect surrounding for you to practice your social skills. This is also a great chance for you to learn how to constructively discuss problems and work in a team.

Compete at tournaments
There is no greater sense of pride than winning the first place and returning to your school victorious. Having a math competition medal to brag about is not a small thing at all.
